INTERNSHIPS
Four Deep Sport Talk offers Production Assistant internships at its television production facility at 80 Spring Street, Bridgewater, MA, and radio production at WARA 1320am studio, at 42 Union Street, Attleboro MA. Students who want to participate must have taken courses in television studio production plus electronic news gathering or engineering or videography. The PA positions require a minimum of 6 hours per week and allow a maximum of 18 hours-depending on the course credit earned.

Description:
Production Assistant 1
Production assistant position 1 is a position in which the student works with the Four Deep Sports Talk/Radio News Producer. Duties include tracking news stories, scheduling interviews and editing. There will be opportunities to create news packages to perform both behind-the camera and on-camera work. The student will coordinate assignments with the News Producer.
Production Assistant 2
Production assistant position 2 is a position in which the student works with the Four Deep Sports Talk Station Manager and the Radio General Manager. Duties include tracking equipment, scheduling edit/studio space for volunteers, participating in” live” cablecasts from the studio and on-location and” live to tape” productions both in-studio and on-location.
Production Assistant 3
Production assistant position 3 is a position in which the student works with the Four Deep Sports Talk Programming team. Duties include coordinating events with the Station Manager and News Producer” live to tape” coverage of sporting events involving both High school and youth sports programs. This position will also require the production assistant to aid in the production of ENG coverage of sporting events in all communities, including the development of highlight packages and dubs. Production assistants will be required to participate actively in “hands on” production and will be expected to meet deadlines set by the high school spotting News Producer and/or Station Manager. The studio has Sony and JVC digital camcorders and editing capacity. The studio is also equipped with Avid and Adobe Analog and Newtek workstations for students to assist in the editing process.
Volunteer
Four Deep Sports Talk is a volunteer driven production facility and is regularly seeking residents from the community to participate in coverage of High school, youth sporting events and much more. We also encourage volunteer production of programs of all sporting events. Equipment and training are provided free of charge. Policies: All interns will need to interact with guests and Four Deep Sports Talk Show staff and meet the requirements of hours needed to meet the required hours. Failure to comply with working requirements including hours changes and requests he/she may result in disciplinary actions including termination of internship.
Calendar: Class time consists of:
* 3 hours on Saturday, from 10am to 1:30pm. (Radio broadcasting)
* 5 hours on Monday, from 9am to 2pm, (Video editing)
* 4 hours in the field taping sporting. (All sporting events are subject to due weather or circumstances.)
A.) The intern will be given 96 hours’ notice before the sporting event takes place to adjust their schedule accordingly.
Grading criteria: The intern will be graded on radio/television editing as of the following:
* Knowledge of sports teams.
* Preparation of questions to be asked.
* Interaction with guests/Four Deep Sports Talk Show staff.
* Set up of Multi studio software
* Operation of Audio sound mixer board.
* Production of radio broadcast and break of pre-taped commercials.
(This will be the radio grade only)
Television editing will be using Adobe Premiere/Avid software as well as Photoshop.
* How to cut in and out of raw video (using Adobe and Avid software)
* Checking video size and quality.
* Checking audio levels and correct any discrepancies
* Add additional video tracks and audio tracks.
* Adjust picture stills to motion.
* Add dissolves as needed.
* Make lower/upper 3rds and graphics as needed.
* Make appropriate adjustments as needed.
(This will be the television grade only)
On sight set up and broadcast on location
* Set up 3 camera angles for broadcast using the proper converters.
* Set up audio mixer and broadcast headsets/and wireless microphones if needed
* Set test wireless cameras.
* Test camera inputs, audio outputs and streaming services using wire cast software. (This will be the On-site broadcasting grade.)
